WindoM does not track you. Your data lives in your browser. An account is entirely optional and only needed for Google Calendar and Spotify. No ads, no analytics, no data sold - ever.
Yes - Spotify uses a Bring Your Own App model. Create a free app at developer.spotify.com/dashboard, add the Redirect URI shown in WindoM's Spotify settings, and paste your Client ID. The whole setup takes about 2 minutes. Your Client Secret is never required or stored - WindoM uses PKCE, the standard secure OAuth flow for public clients.
Yes - almost everything works offline. The clock, todos, quick links, focus timer, quotes, and your settings are all stored locally in your browser. Weather and Unsplash backgrounds require an internet connection. Google Calendar and Spotify naturally require both a connection and an account.
No. An account is entirely optional. Every feature except Google Calendar sync and Spotify works without one. If you do create an account, it's only used to sync your settings across devices and to connect third-party integrations.
WindoM is built to be fast. It is a static React app with no background scripts running while you browse. The extension only activates when you open a new tab. Weather and Spotify polling happens at most once every 30 seconds and only when the dashboard is open.
Yes. WindoM is a Manifest V3 Chrome extension and works on any Chromium-based browser - Arc, Brave, Microsoft Edge, Opera, and Vivaldi. Firefox is not supported at this time as it uses a different extension API.
Removing the extension deletes all locally stored data (settings, todos, quick links) from your browser automatically. If you have an account, your server-side data (settings sync, OAuth tokens) is kept until you explicitly delete your account from the Account tab in Settings.
Yes. WindoM is fully open source under the MIT license. The backend is a Node.js + Fastify API that can be self-hosted with Docker in minutes. See the Local Setup guide for instructions.
